Do you ever just get tired? Do you weary of doing good? Even the most faithful follower of Christ needs to rest a bit and get perspective. If you don’t, it’ll be all too easy to just drift away from the Lord. If that’s you today, just stop for a bit. Rest awhile. Purposefully spend some protracted time in God’s Word this month. Draw near to the Lord. Lindsay McCaul’s newest album can help as you pause and get perspective. Don’t let anything keep you away.
From Lindsay: "I wrote the songs on this album primarily to believers who are worn out and weary . . . even those weary doing good things like ministry. Most of the songs have a theme of coming back to the Lord and pictures the many ways He stands ready to receive us. We don’t have to hesitate returning to Him in repentance and maybe even in brokenness, because He promises us His mercy, love, and forgiveness.”
The song “Ready” is for all Christians who have, for a variety of reasons, wandered away from the Lord. Then one day we turn around but are afraid that we’ve been gone too long and God won’t receive us back. This song reminds us that He’s been after us all along, and stands, even now, with outstretched arms, ready to welcome us.
The words to “Indescribable” were written by James (MacDonald). I’ve liked this song for a long time, and was glad when James offered it for this project. I love the lyrics’ purity—all from Scripture. They praise God’s names, revealing the power and compassion that is our God. It’s just pure worship. We don’t have enough songs like this.
I wrote “Let Go” for an accountability partner who was wrestling with an issue she wanted to give to the Lord but didn’t know how to trust Him with it. She wrote out a prayer of surrender that I worked into this song for her. We can all identify with the struggle of surrender and how difficult it is to lay something at the Lord’s feet and not take it back again. James asks me to sing this song at the close of Walk in the Word’s Evening of Worship & the Word. It’s been an amazing thing to see God use it as people respond to His Spirit at work in their own circumstances. When I see people so broken, it brings me back to that place as well.
From our listeners: A few weeks agoI received the CD of Lindsey McCaul's music, Ready. I don't ordinarily write to ministries often but knew I needed to do this. The CD is amazing, it has been so much more than just music. It has been a healing ministry, a teaching, a humbling, a breaking and restoring and such a hand holding in the process of daily letting go.I live in the Tenderloin of San Francisco. This is the drug infested, homeless, poverty stricken area of the city. Hidden behind the shadows ofmultimillion dollar highrises, that obscure this hard and harsh reality. My small church is housedin the center of this desperation and each and every time i walk through the neighorhood since ive gotten the cd i listen to it and am held by the hope in each songs word, the truth, and conviction. The beauty with which it is sung and musically put together. It brings light through the dark paths and has touched me so deeply. I wanted to share what a blessing it has been and is to me and those ive shared it with at chruch and on the street. It honestly is the best Christian CD i have ever listened too, it is inspired and was obviously prayed over, led by Christ, annointed and blessed. It is indescribible, powerful. Thank you so much.In the love of Christgrace to you all, Chaline
